The Health Director advocates on the community's behalf at the Area Health Board level to raise our health issues on a political level through the Anishinabek Health Commission, Union of Ontario Indians, for resolution. The Director also promotes wholistic/healthy lifestyles within the community through program planning that reflects and meets the goals and objectives of our health plan. As well, the youth, the adults and the elders of the community are reached through social events, outings, meetings and guest speakers. Furthermore, the Health Director acts as a liason between all levels of government, to develop and implement protocols and policies, along with the daily supervision of the Health Team, promote an awareness of the incidence and prevalence of health status in and among First Nations people. The Director is responsible for coordinating the health and prevention programs, as well as team building with the Health Staff and Chief and Council. This is accomplished via staff case management meetings and meetings with the Health Staff and between Chief and Council.
Health Secretary / Receptionist

The Health secretary is responsible for all telephone, receptionist, filing of medical records and all other office duties, as well as booking the medical van appointments as required. The Health secretary is also expected to provide information and advocate on behalf the membership in accessing Non-Insured Health Benefits. The secretary is also responsible for ensuring that the Health and Social Services office is fully supplied and that all equipment is functioning properly. The secretary advertises all upcoming events for the Health Office and prepares the Health and Social Services portion of the monthly newsletter. Also, it is the responsibility of the secretary to maintain an up-to-date housing insurance list.
Native Child Care / Prevention Coordinator

The Native Child Care / Prevention Coordinator is responisble for setting goals, objectives, planning, developing and overseeing the administration of programs to enhance family life in the community. The NCC/P Coordinator promotes well living by coordinating in a variety of preventative activities in the form of recreational, educational, cultural and social events. By placing an emphasis on the well being of children and their famlies the prevention program is intended to reach the community in a variety of ways. As well, the NCC/P Coordinator provides counseling and supportive services including home visits to assist clients in developing the necessary skills to provide a healthy and safe home for children. Also, the Native Child Care / Prevention Coordinator is primarily responsible for acting as a liaison between the Children's Aid Society and First Nations members in issues related to Child welfare. The intent being so that children need not be removed from the community.
Community Health Nurse (CHN)

The CHN's objective is to provide a Community Health Program designed to meet the needs of the community members. In order to accomplish this the CHN works in conjuction with the Health Team to prevent disease and promote health, incorporate traditional values into the delivery of programs and services. Also, to act as a liason between community members and external community resources and agencies to maintain the highest standard of health. Furthermore, the CHN is responsible for providing health teaching, assessments, information, support and nursing services as requested or required by linking with existing services on-reserve i.e. chiropodist or dietician, and off reserve i.e. specialists services, etc.
Social Services Administrator

The Social Services Administrator is responsible for the administration and coordination of social services within Alderville First Nation to individuals that require financial and supportive services. The Administrator also oversees the implementation of the Homemakers program and the Child Tax Benefit program on behalf of eligible clients. This position involves determing eligibility of applicants according to the Ontario Works Act, and the completion of the necessary application forms. In addition, the administrator completes intakes, approves per diems, community start up, drug cards and other benefits (if eligible) for clients residing at the Anishnaabe Kwewag Gamig. The duties also involve fulfilling the role Trustee for some clients in receipt of the Ontario Disability Suppport Program (ODSP). The administrator also assists individuals to managing their finances.
National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program

The NNADAP coordinator is responsible to initiate and facilitate community meetings, workshops, gathering and alternative events that promote a healthy lifestyle free of addictions. The NNADAP coordinator is responsible to initiate and facilitate community meetings, workshops, gatherings and alternative events that promote a healthy lifestyle free of addictions. The NNADAP coordinator acts as a liaison with existing services and assesses the availability of pograms, services and facilities in the area. The NNADAP coordinator is responsible for indentifying training initiatives directed towards the community members needs in the area of addiction (as required). Also, the NNADAP coordinator ensures that the NNADAP Program consists of services selected from the following areas: Prevention, Assessment and Referral, Treatment, Aftercare, Community Development, Liasion, Health Promotion, Administration and an other NNADAP related services deemed as appropriate.
Community Health Representative (CHR)

The CHR provides health information, instruction and education and guidance to Alderville First Nation community members, on safe health practices and proper utilization of the health care system. The CHR also conducts and implements a safe drinking water program along with assisting in coordinating a public health and environmental health program. The CHR provides updates on Non-Insured Health Benefits and assists with appeals of claims that are denied under the NIHB Program. The CHR is responsible for coordinating the Medical Transportation Program, the assist community members in accessing health care services located outside of the community.
Medical Transportation Drivers

Under the medical transportation program, four part-time drivers are responsible for providing safe transportation services to band members for all prescheduled medical appointments.
Home and Community Care Coordinator

The goal of the Home & Community Care program is to provide basic home and community care services that are comprehensive, culturally sensitivie, accessible, and effective. The overall intent is to ensure that community members are supported to continue to reside in their homes. As community resources are limited, a Memorandum of Understanding exists between the Haliburton, Kawartha, Community Care Access Centre and the First Nation, which facilitate the coordinated relationship between services. In 2002, the Alderville Home & Community Care program had initiated the development and implementation of the AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) Program. This program has successfully secured 12 volunteers who are fully trained to administer AED.
