The Manager of Health Programs is responsible for overseeing health, social services and prevention programs reporting directly to the Band Administrator, while ensuring work plan and contract agreements are being met along with maintaining professional program and services. The Manager of Health Programs works acts as the liaison between the various levels of government agencies working to develop and implement policies procedures, protocols to the health and wellbeing of the community and members.

The Front Desk Support Worker is responsible for providing all secretarial and receptionist activities for the Alderville First Nation Health Staff and to provide assistance to community members. The duties for which are as follows:
Assist members of the Health & Social Services team with administrative functions with in the office setting
Maintain inventory of all resources and office supplies; ensuring equipment is functioning properly
Prepare articles for publishing of monthly community newsletter, meeting strict deadlines for all Health and Social Services staff
Advertise upcoming health related community events and activities
v Book all incoming appointments for scheduled clinics, follow-up with the program manager.
Directing Alderville Band/Community members with the appropiate program manager for their needs.

The Social Services Administrator is primarily responsible for the administration and delivery of the provincially funded Ontario Works program (Financial portion only, no employment component).This position is under the authority of Chief & Council and supervision of the Manager of Health Programs, office located at the Health & Social Services Building. In addition, the Social Services Administrator National Native Child Tax Benefit program, Homemakers Program, Energy Savings Program, Community Support Services, Trusteeship and other various programs.

NNADAP Alcohol/Drug Prevention Worker

The goal of the NNADAP program is to provide community based alcohol and drug abuse prevention and treatment programs along with support First Nation members in their efforts to establish and operate programs aimed at arresting and off-setting high levels of alcohol, drug and solvent abuse among community members. Efforts are also focused on prevention, treatment, training and research and development. The NNADAP also coordinates the following Programs and services: Building Healthy Communities: The objective of the BHC program is to improve the physical, mental and social well-being of First Nation children, families and communities.

The goal of the Community Health Representative is to provide the community with health related information, instruction and guidance on the safe health practices and proper utilization of the health care system and assist the community in identifying their needs for effective health services. Furthermore, the CHR is responsible for the design and delivery of the following programs/services: Non-Insured Health Benefits, Brighter Futures and Environmental Health.

The Community Health Nurse is primarily responsible for the development and implementation of community based health promotion, illness prevention programs and services. This includes health teaching, immunization, acute care, emergency medicine, pandemic planning and direct primary health care. Furthermore, the CHN is responsible for the design and delivery of the following programs/services: Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program, Aboriginal Diabetes Initiative, HIV Aids Program, Community Health Promotion and Injury/Illness Prevention.

The Prevention Program has been in existence in Alderville First Nation since October 1991. It has been funded all this while for one Fulltime Native Child Welfare/Prevention Worker and 1 Part time assistant. The 3 original and primary goals of the program were; 1) To develop and oversee preventative activities for pre-natal, post-natal, pre-school, primary school and youth aged children. 2) To provide counseling and organize various supports such as home visits and support groups for single, young, foster and troubled families. Another goal was to assist in developing parenting skills and child management. 3) To intervene so that children need not be removed from the community and develop community based prevention supports so that the identified problem could be solved within the home.

The HB/HC program is designed to provide expectant and new mothers along with their respective families, the necessary support to promote and enhance the well being of the child and mother through our Community Health Nurse as well as our Lay-home visitor programs. An asset for this program specific to the Alderville community is the newly acquired skill set of the Lay-home visitor as a Certified Lactation Specialist. This program has reporting requirements on a quarterly basis over the fiscal year.

The goal of the Home & Community Care program is to provide basic home and community care services that are comprehensive, culturally sensitive, accessible, effective, and equitable to those of other Canadians. A memorandum of Understanding exists between the Haliburton, Kawartha, Community Care Access Centre and the First Nation, which facilitates the coordinated relationship between these services. Furthermore, the Home & Community Care Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of the following programs and services. Home & Community Care, Early Childhood Development Program and Healthy Babies/Healthy Children.

Medical Transportation Coordinator

The program provides transportation services to band members’ on-reserve to all medically required appointments in accordance with directives of FNIHB Interim 2005 Medical Transportation Policy. This program employs one full time Medical Transportation Coordinator. The Medical Transportation Coordinator is responsible for quarterly report submissions. The introduction of a full-time staff position under this program is recently new in that it includes all areas of the program (budget, reporting, driving). Ongoing policy development is required under this program.
